POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Environmental Engineer/Scientist reports directly to the site Environmental Manager and is primarily responsible for air and waste environmental compliance and management systems at the Milliken Chemical, Dewey Plant located in Inman, South Carolina.
The Sr.
Environmental Engineer/Scientist works with the Operations teams in all areas of the facility to ensure proper management of air and waste programs as well as supporting the achievement of footprint reduction goals.
This position has on call responsibilities when enviromental support is needed by the manufacturing team.
Typical work week is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting and recordkeeping of compliance activities associated with Title V permit, solid waste (RCRA), remediation and DOT.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Support activities for Title V/CAA, SARA, remediation, and waste compliance requirements
- Read and interpret environmental regulations as well as develop and implement cost-effective compliance solutions
- Support improvements to Environmental Management Systems and plant environmental training
- Ensure procedures and actions are consistent with policy and ethical practices
- Support the new chemical review process.
Include a risk analysis of each chemical and a monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting strategy including operations, safety, and human resources teams
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
- Bachelor of Science or master s degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or other technically related field.
- Five plus years experience in environmental compliance preferably in chemical manufacturing.
The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:
- Forty-hour HAZWOPER trained
- Knowledge of RCRA, CAA, RMP, CERCLA/SARA, DOT, HAZMAT, OSHA, PSM, Asbestos, VPP, and RC-14001
- Working knowledge of MS Office
